A little something different - A Diaper Cake

So one of my boss' had a baby and we gave her a Surprise Baby Shower before she left.  I work with a very talented and nice group of collegues and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.  The theme was baby jungle animals.  This is my first diaper cake.  It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.  There are some great tutorials on YouTube.  I wanted to cake to sit higher than what the basic directions called for so I sat the base on my own glass cake stand and I put a Wilton Cake Tier in the second layer of diapers and sat the Monkey and last tier of diapers on that.  It came out perfect. I also made a second single layer cake with the remaining diapers, covered it with the other blanket that came in the package and put a smaller monkey on top.  The big monkey mouth is in the shape of an "0" so it looked like he was drinking from the bottle.  It was so adorable.  I will come back later and link to some of the YouTube vidoes that would be helpful if you wanted to make a diaper cake.

Here's the matching card.  I now prefer using googly eyes or rubber stamps for faces.  Sometimes it's a lot easier than trying to make those tiny, tiny cuts fit and for me, I still can't get those tiny cuts to cut neatly.
This is another card I found on YouTube by Yoliebean.  The card size and cut is fabulous.  It actually opens twice - the first time the blue sky opens to reveal a vellum baby quote and then the green grass sections opens to reveal a regular card.  I left this part blank since there were a lot of people that needed to sign the card. You really gotta watch her video to get the full effect.
